Viet Nam posted an all-time high import of automobiles with 173,467 units valued at US$3.84 billion last year, surpassing the previous record of about 160,000 units in 2021
As many as 12,000 cars were imported in July, increasing by 30 per cent
as compared to the month before, the General Statistics Office (GSO) has estimated.
The Vietnam Association of Mechanical Industry (VAMI) has sent a
document to the finance ministry, reporting that several auto importers
have evaded tax by declaring incorrect imported car prices.
Some 8,000 complete built up units worth US$182 million were imported to
Viet Nam in April, declining 20 per cent compared with the same period
last year.
Viet Nam spent US$1.1 billion on auto imports during the first 10 months
of the year, nearly doubling 2013''s figure and registering the highest
level over the last five years.
